It's not always this contractor's preferred method of working but sometimes the customer takes care of the materials and purchases all the materials for their project. We usually do several projects like this every year. There can be many reason's why the material is already ordered. Perhaps the homeowner wanted to do it themselves but found it overwhelming. Maybe a family member was going to do the work but they always seem to be ... busy? I remember several years back we had a call come in. The homeowner's son had started the work but had to leave for university and couldn't complete the work.

Sometimes the materials have been sitting there for months. The homeowner is waiting for some mystery contractor to show up and actually install and complete the work.  Some contractors get all bent out of shape with these type of projects but for this contractor it's something that is quite common. In fact my territory manager from Unilock states that this is a growing segment. So why not embrace it? And that's exactly what we did for this homeowner.
